'Berekoud' is very cold, as cold as 'ijskoud' and 'steenkoud'.Â
'Waterkoud', on the other hand, is a different kind of cold: the air feels a bit wet, but it’s not drizzling. It's my least favorite type of cold!
'Koudwatervrees' is a type of fear that is not necessary, such as fear of starting something new: ‘I had koudwatervrees to learn Dutch for quite some time, but now I love it!’ 'Koudwatervrees' is also used literally: afraid to jump into an ice bath.
